The All Blacks have firmed as favourites to retain the Rugby World Cup with the four remaining teams all from the southern hemisphere for the first time in the history of the tournament.

Indeed, the Northampton-bound second row could start if Lood de Jager fails a late fitness test. Matfield is one of eight players in the 23-man squad who played in the Springboks’ 37-13 win over Argentina in the 2007 World Cup semifinals.
The only change to the New Zealand side for Saturday’s semifinal has been forced upon coach Steve Hansen with Joe Moody replacing injured prop Wyatt Crockett, who was brought off during the first half of the quarterfinal stroll against France. Both teams have injury issues ahead of the big clash. The All Blacks are sweating on exciting rookie winger Nehe Milner-Skudder (shoulder) and loose-head prop Wyatt Crockett (groin).
“Nehe is progressing really well,” said All Blacks assistant coach Ian Foster. There’s certainly improvement there”.

“Bismarck has a nasty laceration on his hand, which was caused by Francois Louw accidentally standing on it. It’s been stitched up and is still swollen, but I’m confident Bismarck will be ready for the All Blacks.”
